Ultrasonic welding

Welding thermoplastic materials by means of ultrasound convert generated electronic vibrations into automatic vibrations with an amplitude transformation piece (in short: ampli or interface) and then transmit these via a sonotrode (welding tool) to the connecting components. In the course of this process the generator and the so-called resonant unit produce a feedback. Through the reflection of the automatic vibrations at the sound-resounding end face of the sonotrode regular waves are being produced, which transmit energy to the components.

The automatic vibrations transmitted towards the components under a certain pressure are getting absorbed and reflect to the margins. Generating molecular and margin frictions produce heat. The plastic material starts to melt, and in the area of the fusion zone, due to the plasticized and strongly cushioning plastic layers, a sound limit leads to an intensive melting process of the plastic, which means, the response to the heat accelerates due to the fact that an increasing part of vibration energy is converted into heat.

Thus heat-seal through inner frictions take place. After a certain dwell and cooling time, during which the pressure remains, the welded joint is finished.
With such an application the High-Z CNC milling machine can simply be extended or upgraded.

Especially for welding cushions, fabrics, fabric fiber, etc. this procedure can be well-applied.
